Nutrition

Nutrition is an interesting topic all together. It seems more often than not that people try to either way over complicate it, or drastically under simplify it. Neither of which is really helpful to someone trying to learn. I plan to break things down into meaningful bite size pieces.

Here we are going to take about the basics or nutrition, how to play with different programs, and what signs to watch for that your body is either enjoying the change, or not real happy about it.

Keep in mind here, I am not a nutritionist, nor am I a doctor. Just someone who leads a healthy and active lifestyle.

Rethinking what we know:

Who remembers this? The old school USDA food pyramid. I can remember seeing this in health class, and having no real idea what it meant or how to achieve it. How exactly does one eat 7 servings of fruits and veggies a day? What exactly is a serving in the first place? Does one explicitly need to eat fats or sweets?

Don’t get me wrong, there is some decent information to be pulled from here. For example, more veggies and less sweets is generally considered good. But for the most part, it needs to be thrown away all together.
